the divine principle of duality
"I am the Guardian of Forever." Capt. Kirk: "Are you machine or being?"Guardian Of Forever: "I am both and neither. I am my own beginning, my own ending."Spock: "I see no reason for answers to be couched in riddles."Guardian Of Forever: "I answer as simply as your level of understanding makes possible."
The above quote from "Star Trek; The City on the Edge of Forever" conveys the fundamental essence of the connection between The Principle of Duality and the Divine Author of the Holy Bible. When one reads the quotes attributed to God or His Angels and Messengers, they always have dual meanings. Is God showing that He has the supernatural ability to speak in riddles having several different meanings? This Principle of Duality permeates all aspects of the Holy Bible, including prophecies and doctrines. It has become increasingly difficult for me to find an example in the Holy Scriptures that, in some way, does not fit this scenario. In addition to verbal communication, God and His Angels have often manifested Themselves in a rather primitive fashion to Mankind. Critics have denigrated the God of the Old Testament because of His various appearances and mannerisms. Using the example of "the Guardian," did God reveal Himself so He could be comprehended by those who were receiving the visions or manifestations? Although the writers and characters of the Bible were quite fallible, when one stands back and considers God's actions and pronouncements from a distance, one can get a different viewpoint concerning God. But this Divine Principle of Duality goes far beyond the inspired Revelation of God in the Holy Bible. It seems to pervade all of nature as well. Many examples show this Principle such as sky and Earth; flora and fauna; male and female; day and night; symmetry of the human body and all living organisms. For more on these dualities, see Newton's Simple Deduction. Many Biblical scholars have taught that the prophecies of the Bible can have dual fulfillments. However, a few years ago, I began to realize that not only prophecies but verses and concepts all through the Scriptures have double meanings. It is challenging to find an example that, in some way, does not fit this scenario. Maybe you can. Is God showing an example of His infinity by saying or doing one particular thing while meaning or accomplishing two?
FIRST: A PARTIAL LIST OF OVERALL DUALITIES 1) Judaism and Christianity. Consider the following; A) While the U.S.A. is probably not part of the "lost sheep of the House of Israel" it was founded as a Christian Nation. Combine with this the fact that the Apostle Paul made it abundantly clear that Christians are "spiritual Jews". Notice what he said to the Romans, "...he is a Jew who is one inwardly..." (Romans 2: 29). B) Consider also that some Islamic enemies view the Nation of Israel as "Satan" and the United States as the "Great Satan". C) According to Wikipedia in 2015, there is about the same percentage of Christians in the United States (75%) as there are Jews in the Nation of Israel (75%). These represent the highest percentages among all nations that are found anywhere else in the world. D) When Columbus sailed west to "discover" the New World, which would later provide a safe haven for both persecuted Jews and Christians, he actually witnessed the expulsion of the Jews from Spain, who were being taken east to safety in the Ottoman Empire (see Modern Jewish History; The Spanish Expulsion & Bayezid II; Wikipedia). 2) In true Christianity "there is one God the Father ... and one Lord Jesus Christ..." (I Corinthians 8: 6). 3) The debate over whether Jesus or Jeshua is man or God, and directly relating to this is the debate over the Name of Christ the Messiah. Is it the Hebrew "Jeshua" or the Greek "Jesus" (see #12). 4) The Scripture is divided into the Old and New Testaments or Covenants. 5) King David and King Solomon were the two greatest and most famous Kings of Israel. 6) The Four Gospels consist of two separate dualities bearing witness to Jesus the Messiah. A. The books of Matthew and Mark were dual witnesses to the Jews B. The books of Luke and John were dual witnesses to non-Jews. Luke specifically wrote to Theophilus, who was Greek, while John wrote to the whole world. 7) The Books of Chronicles and Kings are dual witnesses concerning the history of Israel. 8) Two separate Creation accounts occur in the Book of Genesis. This is delineated very well in the Moffatt translation 9) The Northern and Southern Kingdoms of Ancient Israel; 10) Elijah and Elisha as well as the two witnesses of Revelation; 11) The double dual four Ages of the Bible; that is if you count the "Last Great Day" as being a duration of 1000 years (See The Fourth Age, Also see John 7:37).
12) Greek and Hebrew were the two languages used to write the Bible.
13) The doctrine concerning the timing of the First Resurrection is disputed. Is it before or after the Great Tribulation? 14) In Revelation chapter three, the Philadelphian Church is spared having to go through the Great Tribulation while the Laodicean Church is not so lucky. 15) And finally, the two separate Comings of the Messiah.
GOD's SACRED ACTIONS
If you start at the beginning of Genesis chapter one, you will notice that God's first two Actions were to create the Heavens and the Earth. The very next dual Creation Act of God was the Seven Day Re-creation Week consisting of six evenings (sunsets), and six mornings (sunrises), which then leads to the dual concept of the seven thousand years of Biblical Chronology (2 Peter 3: 8; Psalms 90: 4). You can listen to pertinent lectures by Dr. Martin here. One can proceed through the Bible from this point and notice for themselves all the dualities associated with God's actions.
GOD'S SACRED DOUBLETALK However, when it comes to the words or pronouncements of God, it can be a little more difficult to detect the dual meanings. Sometimes a statement by God can be taken two different ways which can even result in doctrinal disputes between Christians. Below is a list of some examples: 1) Genesis 2: 17; Adam died spiritually in the 24 hr. day, but also died physically within the thousand-year DAY at 930 years of age (Genesis 5:5) 2) Daniel 12: 4 starts by saying first to, "shut up the words", and second to, "seal the book". 2a) Daniel 12:4 also states that at the time of the end "many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased." Most have thought the 2nd duality of the verse has to do with jet airplanes and automobiles, while a few others, including Dr. Ernest L. Martin, have pointed out that it pertains to the increased understanding of the "book" which was being discussed. According to this Principle of Duality, both must be correct.
3) Why shouldn't the Seventy Weeks Prophecy of Daniel 9: 24-27, probably the most famous and important prophecy in the whole Bible be dual as well? Listen to Dr. Martin explain this duality on side two of his lecture entitled "New Discoveries in Chronology & Prophecy". 4)The most famous verse in the Bible is undoubtedly John 3: 16. But if one looks closely, it will become evident that this is only the first verse of a two-verse concept presented by John under God's inspiration. Notice that the next verse, John 3:17, is one of the least quoted verses of the entire Bible. Undoubtedly, this is due directly to its profoundly universal tone, which is alien to many, if not most, Christians. 5) The controversy involving the seven churches found in Revelation chapters two and three can be eliminated when one realizes that both viewpoints are correct. The Book of Revelation was sent to seven literal churches in Asia Minor which existed near the end of the first century. But some of the statements about Christ's return, especially concerning the latter churches, indicates that the book was also written to future Christians as well. 6) The Lord's prayer is full of dualities starting with (1) "Thy Kingdom come, (2) thy Will be done, (1) on earth (2) as it is in Heaven" (Matthew six). His Will is being done now and will be done at the Second Coming. Moreover, His Kingdom is manifesting itself now through Christians. It also will be revealed in the future during the Millenium.
The Latter-Day Prophecy of Daniel Chapter Twelve "And from the time that the continual (sacrifice) is taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, (there shall be) a thousand, two hundred, and ninety days. Blessed is he that waits, and comes to the thousand three hundred and thirty-five days! But do thou go thy way until the end, and thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days" (Daniel 12: 11-13). The primary fulfillment of this scripture lies in the future. But if the "Principle of Duality" is correct, what could be the secondary fulfillment of this famous prophecy?
Consider the possibility that the 1290 and 1335 day periods are consecutive and represent actual years. In that case, as near as historians can determine, the Daily Sacrifice was taken away from Solomon's Temple about 600 BC. This removal of the Daily Sacrifice was during the second invasion of Judah by Babylon. Then about 1290 years later, in 692 AD, the Moslems finished the Dome of the Rock on the Temple Mount. If this interpretation is correct, then 1335 years later should bring us close to the blessed time in which we find Daniel, along with the rest of the patient saints, being at rest.
